Modification of the original trabant 601 type engine for experimental liquid cooling. It'll be used in the PPG/MPG, but also in others machines. Engine is designed especially for slow aircrafts, where's low air-flow for good heat exchange from the original air-cooled cylinders and cylinder heads. This improvement reducing the risk of overheat and eventual engine failure. Applied thermostat opens at 72°C. Temp of a liquid for full throttle is ca 70-75°C (reference speed 45-50 Km/h, in flight). The great advantage of this modification is a stable operating engine temperature.

The WTR engine test flights. Reducing ratio 1:1,6, wooden prop 1600 mm by Mr. Wollner, contactless ignition system VAPE(Czech Rep, Kromeriz) with charging 110W. Engine starter from Škoda Felicia. Glider Axis Vega II L. Climb speed ca 3 m/s. Static thrust ca 110 kg. Temp of liquid is 70-75 °C. Fuel consumption ca 5 l/h. Cruise speed 48-50 km/h. Maximum engine speed is 3800 rpm. Engine has higher compress ratio, ca 1:9,5 and tuned exhaust by Mr. Melvald. The seal for combustion chamber is the silicone O-ring.
If you're compare new weight of the trabant engine with WTR "modification" and weight of original engine (aircraft engine version), you find that weight is only about by ca 3 kg higher. For the prototype were used weighty components, especially the water pump (ca 1,5 kg) as well as the radiator (ca 1,8 kg).

Smaller cooler (it's type from CBR 125R) was mounted, new dimension 190x160/650g (old cooler 390x190, dry weight with accessories 1900g). During the practical tests with "overshadowed" older cooler the engine temperature change to a higher running value, ca 80°C. For horizontal flight works well (air temp ca 20°C).
Lighter accu, 12V 4Ah/YB4L-B instead of 12V 9Ah/YB9-B.
